HISTORY
Spin City Cycle was founded on April 1st, 2001. Located at 110-50 Queens Blvd., in Forest Hills Queens, we are completely accessible by car, train, and also the LIRR. Upon opening shop in Forest Hills, one of our main goals was to offer a level of service never before seen in Queens. In doing so, we had to establish our vast experience in all levels of riding. From road riding, to mountain riding, to extreme sport riding, our employees have considerable knowledge in all areas and actively participate in events held nationwide. The heart of our operation is our mechanics staff. In order to be the best, one must perform at a higher level than most. Between our crew we have over 65 years worth of bicycle experience. We specialize in all forms of bicycle repair from complete bicycle restoration and custom fitting to everyday jobs such as tune-ups and fixing a flat tire. It is our hope that with our vast knowledge of the bicycle industry as well as being committed to excellence in customer service, we will distinguish ourselves from all other shops. Come and visit us, either online or in our Forest Hills location, and see for yourself what we're all about. We look forward to seeing you.
THE SHOP
Spin City Cycle consists of three focused areas of riding: road, mountain (off-road), and comfort riding. These are among the top forms of bicycling that are most popular in the United States. For years, mountain biking has held the reign as the most popular and most sought after type of riding. However, beginning with the 1999 Tour De France victory by American Lance Armstrong, road biking has experienced a revival and continues to gain in popularity largely due to Armstrong's 7th straight Tour de France win in 2005. Next to road bikes, comfort bikes have taken hold on the American bicycling populace. Comfort bicycles offer the recreational cyclist opportunities to experience a bike ride with the plush comfort of soft cushioned saddles, suspension seatposts, and upright riding positions. All of these amenities create a desirable ride for anyone who wishes to indulge themselves while riding a bike. At Spin City Cycle, we specialize in all fields of riding. Whether it be someone competing in a road race, hitting some trails, participating in a century (100 mile) ride, or a family strolling around the park, we realize the necessity of being able to handle each and every customer individually and professionally. Within our walls, we house a wide range of bicycles and accessories to meet every need.
OWNER
With over fifteen years of retail bike experience, not to mention top seller for over two years, under his belt, Jimmy who was a recognizable amateur racer and still is an avid cyclist, seeks to accomplish one thing as a first time bike shop owner: complete and total customer satisfaction. "I want everyone who walks into those doors to leave knowing that this is a shop that they want to do business with. Honesty, integrity, and professionalism are more important to me than numbers. I want Spin City Cycle to grow as a neighborhood shop where everyone will feel welcomed and comfortable. Attention to detail for every customer is what sets a great shop far apart from your everyday bicycle shop."
MECHANIC
Beginning his career in Equador some 25 years ago, our head mechanic has much to offer in the construction and development of Spin City Cycle. With over 8 years of experience working for the Yamaha pro motorcycle assembly plant, and over 15 years experience as a bicycle mechanic, we have established one major factor at Spin City Cycle, there is no job too big or too small for our head mechanic. Sometimes it is quite astonishing how he is able to improvise and find a solution for nearly everything. With his main specialty being wheel building and custom assemblies, we are proud to say, we have one of the best.
